Thank You

Dear Church Family,

Paul, in Phillippians 4:10-13, rejoices in God’s provision for his ministry through the Philippians church saying,
10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Traci and I are similarly rejoicing at how the Lord has provided for us through you. We are so very, very thankful for your recent decision that facilitates our ability to purchase our own home. It is hard to express the many reasons why we are thankful for you, but I will do my best to explain our thanksgiving for you.

One reason why we are so thankful for you, is the blessing it was to see our church family engaged in the discussion about our housing. The fact that such a significant number of our fellowship were willing to sacrifice their evening, gather together, and voice how the Lord was leading them (in the midst of a pandemic no less!) was a tremendous encouragement to our hearts. The reality that the decision was unanimous was just another reason to rejoice over your love for us, and over the Lord’s leading within our fellowship. We cannot tell you how encouraged we were on Sunday evening. We felt blessed beyond what we deserve. All we can say is thank you!

A second reason why we are so thankful for you is in your overwhelming generosity towards us. I can tell you that we never dreamed that we would be likely to be homeowners. Not that we doubted the generosity of the Lord’s people, but we simply had written off homeownership as a likely cost of following the Lord’s leading into ministry. The fact that your generosity towards us will allow us this opportunity to find our own home is again another way in which we feel blessed beyond measure.

A third reason why we are so thankful for you is that we know that many of you have been praying for us about this decision. There are very few things as encouraging as knowing that your church family is appealing to the Lord on your behalf. Again we feel blessed that we would have so many praying earnestly for us.

And… this brings us to perhaps one more reason to praise the Lord together, for the Lord has seemingly answered your prayers. Throughout the last several months Traci and I have looked here and there at homes. On Tuesday afternoon we went out and looked at several homes with our realtor. Near the end of our search on Tuesday we pulled up to one home and I leaned over to Traci in our car and said, “I think we are going to really like this house, but I think we need to be careful because I don’t think it is likely we’d be able to get this house in this market.” Sure enough, when we walked in the front door, we loved the house from the moment we stepped through the door. Later that evening we put an offer on the house, and by very late on Wednesday night we had signed an agreement with the seller to buy the home.

Since Wednesday, I cannot tell you how many times Traci and I have looked at each other and said, “only the Lord could have worked this out for us.” There are so many small details of the Lord’s leading through this process that we would love to share with you, but time will not allow us to do so here. All we can say now is that the Lord abundantly blesses His children. We know it is not always through the blessings of things or finances (in fact, Paul mentioned above that sometimes we experience God’s blessing through his allowance of facing times of need or hunger), but we do know that He abundantly blessed His children.

Again, we thank you for your love, generosity, prayers, encouragements, and kindnesses you’ve expressed to us through this process. More importantly, we thank and praise our Lord who is always faithful. Whether we have need or whether we face abundance we know that we can do “all things through Him who strengthens me.”

Love You All,
Jonathan, Traci, and the Boys!
